The location and the surroundment of water helped New York City become a major urban center of the world becasue with the water reach, everyone else could come here to live easier. Also here they could have a farm and crops because they will have water to help their crops and animals survive. Water played different roles because people needed water in general for survival, also people needed water for other important things like as I said before feeding their animals, and for watering their plants, crops, basically food, and food is another part of survival.
