1. Describe the evolution of NYC's sewage system. What were some of the challenges that the city faced in its development of a waste system? What are some challenges that still remain?
The way it has change is by before there wasn't sewers at all, in the old days they just dumped their waste under ground. and in the past centuary they have started fixing this, so they started making sewer in almost all the place in NYC. One of the promblems NYC went threw, was their population. And that ment they had to take about 1.3 billion gallons to take care just one year. The challenge that is still a challenge is that there is no challenge since are water is clean since they come from reservoir and the water that comes from reservior are clean. Another example is that when water is under ground it is been purify an example of that is....... Imagan that you drop raid dye under groun that represent polluted water and we are trying to avoid drinking that water. But luckily the rock under ground clean the water and makes the water able to drink. And that is why there isn't a challenge right now in the sewers.
2. What positive impacts does the NYC sanitation system have on the bodies of water surrounding the city? What threats does the sanitation system pose to the surroubding waters?
Positive impacts that the sanitation system has on New York City bodiesof water surrounding the city is that it is sanitizing it and since it is close to that large body of water it can purify that water so us people could get it. It is a positive impact because in the past the people had to dump thier water waste under ground since they had no other place to put, and by doing that it also started geeting people sick and one of those sickness was yellow fever. The treat that it has is that it is also polluting the the rivers while it was sanitizing the water, an example about this is the fresh kill water.
3. In clear steps with many details, describe the life of your poop after you flush.
Well after you flush your poop or should i say your waste water it goes under your pipes of your house. then it goes threw the sewers line underneath the streets and into a water sewage treatment plant. The treatment process varies from plant to plant, but the goal is the same, it is just to separate the solid waste from the liquid waste. So they go in different path and not the same path. Then they go to the sewage where they are being sanitize.
