Sewage

 1.  Describe the evolution of NYC's sewage system.  What were some of the challenges that the city faced in its development of a waste removal system?  What are some challenges that still remain?

THe sewage system is a bunch of pipes that lead dirty water to sewage plants.  One challenge was the plant over flowing.  So what they did was put an extra area for the extra water.  The sluge is still being dumped into the ocean wether it is separated or not so that needs to be fixed.

2.  What positive impacts does the NYC sanitation system have on the bodies of water surrounding the city?  What threats does the sanitation system pose to the surrounding waters?

One is that they are trying to clean the water better.  A threat is that they could have harmful chemicals to do that which get into the water.

3.  In clear steps with many details, describe the life of your poop after you flush.

Step 1: I get flushed down the toilets into pipes on my way to the sewage system.

Step 2: I travel through pipes to the sewage plant.

Step 3: I get put into this pool of water where they put chemicals into it.

Step 4: I was separated from the water and dumped into the bay.
