Answer:New York City is the largest urban center in the world because it was and still is completey surrrounded by water.A good thing about this would be that people would be able to come and leave NYC by boat or sail.They would also be able to import and export a lot of goods.
Water helped New York City go from a undevolped city to a developed city in a lot of ways and that is why now NYC is one of the most developed country in the world.One way water helped New York City become developed was when they built the Corton Dam.This provided them with water that was clean and fresh and didn't levave the city with a bad stench.Another way water devolped NYC was that itallowed it to be connect to different place so more people would be able to come in and leave the city at any time.Now that NYC has water we are now most deveolped and the best city to live in.
