New York City's location allow it to become a major region urban center of the world because it is in the middle of the of many clear water that people could drink. Not most of the bodies of water are clean now but before they were. In the 1600's the people created a canal so the people in Europe can transport goods to Manhattan. They weren't exactly connected but when they went through the ocean there was a little route that connected New York and Europe. The many goods that Europe brought then turned into many stores selling mostly everything in the 1920's. In 1945 the people from New York started building many monuments which made New York a very famous place to come to.
