In what ways did New York City's location (surrounded by water!) allow it to become a major urban center of the world? Include in your response the different roles that water played in New York's development throughout history.
Some ways New York City's location allowed it to become a major urban center of the world is because of its water. The water was the key! The water was clean and fresh so people can survive on the water. As the word spread of the water being so clean more people were attracted to the city. Also, with water (oceans) the boats could sail to place and to place to retreive and give food and other sorts of things. With such clean water like so, people could bottle up the fresh water and raise/ make money off of other people to make a living. So they could import and export good materials, and the fresh water made it a major urban center of the world.
