  • 1: In what ways did New York City's location (surrounded by water!) allow it to become a major urban center of the world?  Include in your response the different roles that water played in New York's development throughout history.

      Water helped NYC's development, by MANY things. Water helped early settlers give their animals something to drink and eat, and they could water plants and other stuff.

Here we were on our first day learning about water molecules. we did this in order to understand how water particles stick together and how they freeze.

  • 1: How can we observe the cohesion and adhesion of water?  Give examples that an average person could understand.  Also, you might use counter-examples, of substances that don't display cohesion or adhesion.
  • We can use Magnetic Marbles and normal marbles in order to represent the cohesion and adhesion of water because water sticks together and so do the magnets,showing cohesion. Adhesion are water molecules that climb on one another. One way to see a bigger model of this is to use the magnetic  marbles too see how this cohesion thing works.
