Explaining Cohesion and Adhesion

Q.How can we observe the cohesion and adhesion of water?  Give examples that an average person could understand.  Also, you might use counter-examples, of substances that don't display cohesion or adhesion.

A.One way we can observe cohesion with h2o aka water is to put a beaker full of water and then then put a small straw in the beaker and leave it there then you will notice that the water kind of climbed up the tube and that is a sign of cohesion which also means the stickyness.
