Water Molecules

From this experience,I learned that water molecules are cohesive. Cohesive means that they stick to each other. I also learned that some liquids are not cohesive but adhesive, which means that the molecules stick to each other and other liquids.

Acidic or Basic?

Visual Anthology of Poems

Little Workers

Workers everywhere

Going from the top of the rock

To the Bottom.

Determined to be alive

And to Survive.

They Work for their food

And so Big Foot's don't kill them.

And so they don't starve

All over the forest.

You can't see them

They scare people

Well,some people.

But not me

They are interesting.

No fear for me

Just Workers.

Sewage and the City

1.  Describe the evolution of NYC's sewage system.  What were some of the challenges that the city faced in its development of a waste removal system?  What are some challenges that still remain?

Hydrosphere <-> Metropolis

In what ways did New York City's location (surrounded by water!) allow it to become a major urban center of the world?  Include in your response the different roles that water played in New York's development throughout history.

Croton Dam and Aqueduct Questions

1.What is an aqueduct? What makes the Croton Aqueduct an aqueduct?

An aqueduct is a channel that helps water travel from one place to another. The circular figure of the aqueduct makes the Croton Aqueduct an aqueduct because aqueducts have a circular figure and it can have bridges to help distribute the water as well.

2.Why was the Croton Aqueduct built? What need was it constructed to fulfill?

What's YOUR Water Footprint?

1. Using your water log (and average water use from the days you logged),calculate what your average water use per year might be.

Water Cycle & Acids, bases using pH

Water Cycle:

1. Why is the water cycle an important factor in one of the earth's process?

The water cycle is an important factor in the earth's process because if there was no water cycle then water would be over-flooding our earth and we wouldn't have new bodies of water on our earth for us to create different water supplies for us to recieve drinking water. Also the water cycle is an important factor to our earth's process because it helps clear out all of the bacteria that has been contaminating our water supply.

Explaining Cohesion and Adhesion

1. How can we observe the cohesion and adhesion of water?

What we can do to observe cohesion and adhesion of water is to create models to help us visualize each concept. These models can give us a better understanding of the concepts cohesion and adhesion. With the models,it is less hard for us to actually understand them and you can experiment with them.

2. In class, how did we model water molecules?  How could this model be used to explain cohesion and adhesion?
