What is water and how should we manage it?
Our lives literally depend upon a readily available supply of fresh, clean, drinkable water, and yet so little of the earth's water meets these criteria.
In this month-long semester, students will have the opportunity to get to know the water molecule in all it's chemical and physical glory, to travel through time, tracing the historic development of NYC and its quest for drinkable water, and to consider our reliance and impact on the sources and sinks within the natural systems that surround us. Students will emerge with an understanding of water that is grounded in science, steeped in historic and human perspective, and broadened by global awareness. As one of several culminating products, students will show evidence of their learning through this online portfolio, where they are assembled in teams concentrating on the interactions of the Hydrosphere with one of the following:
- The Geosphere
- The Atmosphere
- The Biosphere
